چکیده

During the past 12 years 7 examples have been encountered of brief arrhythmic episodes which we have called the "cardiac ballet". They consist of sequences of multiform ventricular (QRST) complexes, with or without ventricular complexes of the shape of sinus beats interspersed. The special feature of the arrhythmia is that the characteristic patterns of the sequences are from time to time replicated. All of our 7 examples of this condition have been associated with the R on T phenomenon (Smirk, 1949; Smirk and Palmer, 1960; Ng, 1968), and in one case an episode of ventricular fibrillation was recorded. Another recurrent ventricular arrhythmia is " repetitive paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia", which has been described by Parkinson and Papp (1947), Katz and Pick (1956a), and Stock (1962), but almost all their published traces differ from the episodes we are about to describe. Further, Parkinson and Papp (1947) drew attention to the generally good prognosis in repetitive paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia, whereas 5 out of our 7 patients died.

Electrocardiographic Indices, Circulating Electrolytes and Cardiac Enzymes of Apparently Healthy Aged Layer Hens

BACKGROUND: Staphylococcus aureus is a highly versatile pathogen of a large number of domestic ani- mals, including avian species. There is limited information about S. aureus isolated from companion and wild birds in Iran. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine drug resistance and random-amplified polymorphic DNA-PCR (RAPD-P...

Electrocardiographic abnormalities and their association with some serum biomarkers in lambs with foot and mouth disease

Little attention has been paid to the aspects of cardiac injury-related foot and mouth disease (FMD) in young animals. So, this research was conducted to evaluate the serum biomarkers and electrocardiographic (ECG) evidence of myocardial injury in the infected lambs with FMD. During an outbreak, 33 lambs with FMD and 11 healthy lambs were randomly enrolled. After blood sampling, ECGs were taken...

Electrocardiographic manifestation of digoxin toxicity in a Pomeranian dog

This case report describes several electrocardiographic findings in an 8-years old female Pomeranian dog that was referred with a history of digoxin overdose. Electrocardiographic abnormalities detected in this case could be classified as primary electrocardiographic disturbances, reflecting cardiac chamber enlargement and secondary ECG changes, attributed to digoxin toxicity. ECG manifestatio...

Alterations of the electrocardiographic parameters in relation to circulating electrolytes and cardiac enzymes during different productive states of high producing Holstein dairy cows

BACKGROUND: Dairy cows undergo physiological changes during pregnancy and lactation and cardiovascular system may alter during these periods. OBJECTIVES: Understanding the physiological effects of production periods of dairy cows on heart electrical activities can aid to better monitoring the cardiovascular system in these animals. METHODS: Five multiparous Holstein dairy cows were studied from...

A Survey on Electrocardiographic Parameters in Broiler Chickens Following the Intracerebroventricular Injection of Melatonin

Objective- The pineal gland and its principal hormone melatonin play an important role in the circadian organization in birds. However, little is known about the role of melatonin in cardiac activity of broiler chicken. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of intracerebroventricular injection of melatonin in electrocardiographic parameters, heart rate and mean electri...
